Austin T. Hamilton
Austin is a commercial litigation attorney who emphasizes a client-first approach. Austin prides himself on providing honest and sound advice to each and every one of his clients. Austin’s approach to litigation and resolving disputes involves building a customize strategy for each of his clients to ensure that he meets his client’s goals while staying within their budget.
Austin represents a wide variety of clients from small business owners to associations and larger corporations. Austin is an experienced trial attorney including both jury trials and bench trials in state and federal court. Austin was the lead plaintiff’s attorney in an eight (8) day federal jury trial involving an insurance dispute resulting in a $1.89 million dollar verdict for his client.
In addition to being an experienced trial attorney, Austin also enjoys appellate law. Austin has experience in drafting appellate briefs and making oral arguments. Austin has appeared before the First District Court of Appeal and the Fifth District Court of Appeal and would enjoy practicing in each of Florida’s five district courts of appeal.
Austin focuses on all aspects of commercial litigation at the trial and the appellate level. His practice areas include: complex commercial litigation, business and contract disputes, construction litigation, general business litigation, real property litigation, creditor’s rights, garnishments and collections. Austin also represents homeowners associations and condominium associations in various matters including the collection of unpaid assessments and the construction and enforcement of governing documents.
Austin is a Hoosier by birth but a Boilermaker by the grace of God. He was born in Lafayette, Indiana and grew up in a small suburb outside of Cleveland, Ohio. While he did not attend Purdue University, Austin is an avid Purdue Boilermaker fan and grew up attending Gene Keady’s summer basketball camp at Purdue University.
Austin obtained his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Bowling Green State University. He obtained his Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from Florida Coastal School of Law graduating in the top five percent (5%) of his class.
While in law school, Austin was on the Florida Coastal Law Review, and was the Executive Editor of the Florida Coastal Law Review Executive Board. He was also a Student Pupil in the prestigious Chester Bedell Inn of Court, and he interned for a United States District Court Judge for the Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Division.
Austin is admitted to practice in the State of Florida as well as in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
Austin is married to his beautiful wife, Emily. Austin met Emily in undergrad at Bowling Green State University. Austin moved to Jacksonville in 2009 and Emily joined him shortly after completing her graduate degree at Bowling Green. Austin and Emily, along with their two wonderful children have made Jacksonville their home.
In his free time, Austin enjoys exercising, playing basketball, fishing, chasing his children on the beach and spending quality time with his family.
